Peer Mentoring Programme for Prison Staff

This Peer Mentoring Programme was developed as part of the M4Pris project. It was informed by the Blueprint of Prison Staff Mentoring, developed under WP2, with the aim of defining the structure of the mentoring programme.

Sychronous sessions

Module 1

This module explores the diverse roles of prison officers in mentoring relationships, including befriending, tutoring, supervising, and mentoring. It addresses the challenges and opportunities of guiding less experienced officers, highlighting the cultural, emotional, and professional aspects.

This module focuses on developing core competencies crucial for effective performance in various professional contexts, with a specific emphasis on: Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills and Conflict Resolution Skills.

Module 3

This module focuses on the four  (4) phases of Mentoring Process: The rapport-building phase, the setting direction phase, the progression phase, and the closure phase.

This module focuses on mental health of prison staff, who are  under severe strain, leading to significantly high rates of disorders like PTSD and anxiety compared to the general public and even other first responders.
