In November 2024, Leiria Youth Prison hosted a Coordinators’ Training Course held as part of the M4Pris project. This training course was delivered by Aproximar, Cooperativa de Solidariedade Social, CRL, and implemented in collaboration with the Directorate-General of Reintegration and Prison Services (Direção-Geral de Reinserção e Serviços Prisionais, DGRSP) at Lei ria Youth Prison, with the aim of equipping coordinators with the necessary skills and tools to ensure an effective Peer Mentoring Programme for Prison Staff.
O grupo de formação incluiu profissionais de diversas origens, representando vários géneros, idades e anos de experiência no sistema prisional. Estes coordenadores são funcionários da DGRSP no Estabelecimento Prisional de Leiria Jovens, onde cada um desempenha funções específicas. Participaram nas sessões um total de 10 profissionais, distribuídos igualmente entre 5 homens e 5 mulheres..
A formação seguiu um formato de formação mista (b-learning), combinando sessões online assíncronas com sessões presenciais síncronas. Esta abordagem permitiu aos participantes compreenderem profundamente o conteúdo teórico ao seu próprio ritmo, antes de o aplicarem em exercícios práticos durante as sessões presenciais.
Durante as sessões de formação, foram utilizados vários métodos, incluindo apresentações, debates, exercícios práticos, atividades em grupo e dramatizações. Este ambiente interativo incentivou a participação ativa e a troca de experiências entre os participantes.
The self-assessment results of the coordinators’ training course provided valuable insights into the improvement of coordinators’ skills across various competences before and after the training. The analysis revealed a significant overall improvement in the coordinators’ competences. With regard to participants’ satisfaction, they praised the trainers for their excellence, noting their ability to capture the trainees’ attention through constant interaction and successful dynamics. One participant remarked, “The trainers were excellent, they managed to capture the trainees’ attention through constant interaction with the group and successful dynamics”. Additionally, the professionalism and commitment were highly appreciated, with a participant expressing, “I congratulate the trainers for their professionalism and commitment to their mission and objectives”.
O Curso de Formação de Coordenadores em Portugal revelou-se um passo significativo para o desenvolvimento profissional dos participantes, garantindo a aplicação prática das competências adquiridas e promovendo um ambiente de aprendizagem colaborativo e eficaz.
