ICPA Staff Training and Development Network Webinar

On the 29th of October 2024, the International Correctional and Prison Association (ICPA) hosted a webinar that brought together more than sixty (60) professionals from around the world. The webinar mainly focused on discussing the need for specialized trainings, constant support and mentoring for prison staff in the twenty-first century.

Drawing from a pool of case studies and examples such as the Stanford Prison Experiment and Norway’s unique approach to prison officers’ education, the speakers of the webinar highlighted the multifaceted role of correctional officers. The Romanian experience of staff training, along with the vital role of mentoring in a prison context, were also key topics included in the webinar agenda. With this occasion Adrian Neagoe spoke about the M4Pris project.

Adrian Neagoe representing the Trade Union of Penitentiary Policemen (SNPP), an M4Pris project partner, presented the project’s innovative approach to empowering prison staff through peer-to-peer mentoring. He focused on the main objective of the M4Pris project, which is to shape a fertile environment where experienced prison officers voluntarily guide and support their colleagues, enhancing their professional development and their overall well-being.
